What does passive alert mean?

Passive alert is the dog telling the handler that there is a presence of a narcotic odor in a non-aggressive manner. This means the dog will sit, lie down, and/or even stop and look at the handler when it hits the source of the narcotic odor. Aggressive alert dogs will bite, scratch, bark or even tear up the area at the source of the narcotic odor. We do not use aggressive alert dogs.

What's the difference between residence and resident?

A resident is someone who lives at a particular place for a prolonged period or who was born there. A residence is a drug rehab where people must stay there for a period of weeks or months or a half way house where inmates just released from prison live for weeks or months.
